Jam Torte by Zia Maria Luisa

Ingredients

  • 1 sachet of dry yeast
  • 350 grams of Plain flour
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 225 grams of margarine
  • 100ml milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of grated lemon rind
  • 250 gram jar of jam —flavour of your choic

 

Method

Combine flour, sugar, eggs, margarine, lemon rind and milk In a bowl and stir well, finally add yeast and mix until the mixture forms a soft dough.

Separate a portion of the pastry to make the decorative strips for the top of the torte.

Roll out the pastry to fit the round baking tray. Then spread the jam evenly over the pastry. Roll out the remainder pastry and cut into strips and piece over the jam.

Place the torte in a preheated oven and bake at 200•C until golden brown.

Remove from oven and allow to cool then dust with icing sugar.
